Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning! It is a great pleasure for me to attend this Chinese Oil & Petrol Manufacturers’ Open Forum. First of all, I would like, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in UAE and Ministry of Commerce, to extend my heartfelt congratulations to its opening. And I also want to express my sincere thanks to GASCO, Sinopec and Zhejiang Jiuli for their efforts and contribution that make this forum possible.
For the past few years, China and UAE have witnessed frequent high-level reciprocal visits, intensified cooperation in various fields and great leaps of economic and trade relation. Chinese government has attached great importance to bilateral relations, economic and trade relations in particular. UAE has occupied the second largest market as well as the largest export market of China in Gulf. In 2008, the trade volume between China and UAE reached 28.1 billon USD, increasing 40.5% on a year-on-year basis. This year, His Highness, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al-Nahyan paid a successful and fruitful visit to China, which certainly has further opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.
There will be a stable structure that is complementary in the fields of Energy and Petrochemical Industry between China and UAE. UAE is the fourth largest oil producer in the world while China has been the second largest oil consuming and import country. Therefore, a bright and prosperous future of bilateral cooperation in the petrochemical industry can be expected in the years to come.
Chinese government has made Go Global a national strategy and will support Chinese enterprises to conduct international cooperation by all possible means. Today, the manufacturers present here represent the outstanding ones in China, of whom, Sinopec is not only China’s biggest but also world-renowned enterprise, many are listed companies. Quite a few of them have already been time-honored suppliers for petrochemical industry in Middle East and the world at large.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The world economy is now in the face of an unprecedented financial crisis in which all countries have been affected already. So it is of great significance now for both our countries to prompt mutual-benefit cooperation between enterprises in a view to coping with Crisis and restoring economic development. And I am strongly convinced that the enterprises present here today will increase mutual understandings and trust, and seize this valuable commercial opportunities to reach reciprocity and mutual benefit and a win-win result.
Lastly, I would like to wish this forum a complete success.
Thank you!
